New restrictions on travelers to or from China to Europe and Costa Rica

In recent days, several European countries have implemented new restrictions on travelers going to or coming from China due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic

These measures have been taken in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus and protect public health.

In Italy, travelers coming from China are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival. In addition, all travelers entering the country must present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of their departure.

France has also implemented similar measures for travelers coming from China. All such travelers are required to undergo a seven-day quarantine upon arrival and must present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their departure.

Germany has implemented even stricter measures for travelers coming from China. In addition to a 10-day quarantine and a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of their departure, travelers from China are required to complete a health questionnaire upon arrival in Germany.

Costa Rica has also implemented restrictions on travelers coming from China. All such travelers are required to present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their departure and are subject to additional health screenings upon arrival in the country.

In Costa Rica, a considerable increase in infections by COVID19 has been detected. This is due to the lack of vaccines in the complete vaccination scheme or the relaxation of the general population. In the province of Limón, in the Talamanca area, a significant increase has been detected, which worries the local health authorities. It is important that if you have symptoms, a test is performed at your nearest health center or laboratory.

These restrictions have had a significant impact on travel to and from China, as well as on the overall tourism industry. Many travelers have had to cancel or postpone their plans due to the added restrictions and uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.

In addition to the restrictions on travelers coming from China, some European countries have also implemented similar measures for travelers coming from other countries with high rates of COVID-19 transmission. For example, travelers coming from the United States are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Italy.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on travel and tourism around the world. As countries continue to grapple with the spread of the virus, it is likely that additional restrictions will be implemented in the coming months. It is important for travelers to stay informed about the latest travel restrictions and to follow any necessary guidelines to protect public health and prevent the spread of the virus.

These measures have been taken, due to the lack of transparency from the Chinese government about the number of cases and the real extent of the virus in China. This recommendation is made as a precaution and our country, Costa Rica, cannot be left behind. That is why, following the scheme of other countries both in America and Europe, it has taken new measures and they become effective January 9, 2023.
